The day was warm, the popsicles were cold, and GHS students enjoyed a taste of spring with Student Council’s first Spring Fling on Friday, May 21st during 8th period. Organizer’s planned an hour and a half of outdoor fun which included tye-dying, dodge ball, spike ball, four square, KanJam, giant Jenga, chalk drawings, corn hole, musical chairs, tug of war, bad mitten, soccer, ulitimate frisbee, a scavenger hunt, a penny slam, popsicles and the freedom to move around among the various activities.
Annie St. Syr, a sophomore, found the activities, freedom, and time with friends enjoyable but wished there were indoor options due to the heat. Annie said her favorite activity was tie-dying.
The Spring Fling Committee began planning this event approximately six weeks ago with the idea of creating and offering activities that would guarantee maximum student participation. The committee was made up of the following Student Council members: Aron Silvestre, Ainsley Coyle, Cale Hagner, Camden Boisvert, Senora Mckinnon, Harrison Spalthoff, Lily Koeppel, Molly Gregorio, Murray Mckay, Nicole Tallini
Camden Boisvert, sophomore and Spring Fling Committee member said Student Council’s hope for Spring Fling was for “everyone to have a good time and [to create] a great way to top off the year by making [Spring Fling] fun.” Camden also noted the positive feedback StuCo has received and the plan to make it the First Annual Spring Fling.
