Kathy McBride is a mom of two and a fantastic leader for her peers around her. Kathy was born in Goffstown and moved to Deering when she was a young child. She then grew up there finishing high school. Kathy went on to study History at Saint Anselm College. She then became a teacher and worked with many different grades such as pre school and third grade.
At this time she was studying to become a principal. She was then a principal for many years and said “this was the most that I ever worked”. You don’t realize it but being a principal you work extremely hard and absurd hours. You also have to work most of the summer. During this time it really showed how much perseverance Kathy had.
Kathy then moved on from that to become an RBT(Registered Behavior Technician) and then a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). Basically, this is a person that goes into a school and works with the kids who need a paraprofessional and then gives the para a better plan on how to work with said kid. What is really inspiring about Kathy is how much passion she has for helping kids. She doesn’t just do it because the job pays well, but she does it because it means a lot to her.
Another main aspect that is really impressive about Kathy is the amazing mother she is to her two kids. She will do anything in her power to make sure they both have anything they need. Regan, her daughter, said “My mom has given me the most comfortable life that she possibly can”. It really shows Regan how much Kathy cares. A good word to articulate how she acts is compassionate. Kathy also mentioned how her kids can be a pain, but that is beside the point.
In total Kathy went through 8 years of different schooling and training to get to where she is today. You may ask, where is she today? Well, she now owns her own company called McBride ABA Consulting. This is a company that gets contracted by school districts to bring in BCBA and RBT to full time work in a said school to work specifically with one student. At least that is her employee’s job. She has eight of those. She mentioned that managing all of those employees is rather difficult. “I have worked very hard and persevered to get to where I am today.”
