The class dance is an event that happens at the Homecoming Pep Rally each year. Each grade has their own time during the pep rally to perform an originally choreographed dance. The time they perform is usually spread out between games that take place at the pep rally. Each grade has a few weeks and a few hours to cast a dance squad, choreograph and rehearse the dance. For the most recent pep rally the seniors did Rihannah, juniors did Micheal Jackson, sophomores did Justin Bieber, and freshman did Pitbull.
The freshmen cast seven students. The people who participated in the dance were Deanna Bentas, Reeva Kopacz, Lejla Hodzic, Jayden Rouse, Marina De Marco and Adele Yergeau. The freshmen casted three special guests being Kellen Newcomb in the bear costume, Ava Diez the senior and Mrs. Gratton, the science teacher. The attire for the freshman dance was suits, sunglasses, ties and bald caps as well. The students are given a maximum of four minutes. Rehearsals were held either before or after school. Deanna B said, “Her favorite move they did was the sunglasses slide.” Which is a move where at the end of the dance they all slide forward and throw their sunglasses to the senior section. Deanna mentioned she had been dancing for twelve years. She’s not the only experienced dancer but there were also inexperienced dancers there as well. Deanna said “She will do it again” and she enjoyed it a lot.
Brendon thinks that the dances went very well and were all successful. The freshman needed more students. Brendon Neal proposed the idea of someone from each grade going on to the morning announcements to mention when the rehearsals are and what the dance is, so it gets attention. Brendon stated that “seniors had the best dance, and juniors had the second best.” He is not doing the dance next year but thought it was fun and interesting to watch. Juniors and sophomores were the most hyped up in Brendon’s opinion. He also said, “The dances had good detail and props with them.”
The crowd went feral for the dances. It was very hyped and loud. The students enjoyed it a lot. At the end of homecoming with all the points added up the juniors won. More people should try it out.
