Today, a groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil woke up to a large crowd of people shouting “PHIL! PHIL! PHIL!”. On the count of three Phil was then taken out of his tree trunk hole. Unusually testy this year, Phil was probably hoping for five more minutes of sleep which no one would let him have.

After calming down, the emcee showed Phil to the crowd before sticking him on the stump to determine whether or not winter would continue for another six weeks. Phil fussed about a bit, but once settled, the officials determined that he had seen his shadow and we were in store for another six weeks of winter.

Whether or not this actually happens is still up in the air because as all New Englanders know, New England doesn’t care about groundhogs.
