Grizzly Chase Race
On Sunday, February 17th, the Goffstown High School Cross Country team will be hosting their first ever snowshoe race. The race will take place at 10 a.m. in the newly purchased backwoods of the high school. The course will be roughly 2.5 miles in the woods, and if there is no snow, it will just be a running race. The race will start winter carnival week and Melissa Mannon says that “ Winter carnival used to have more outdoor events” and she also said “that by doing this race we are hoping to bring back the sense of outdoor fun.” The race will be used to help raise money for sweats for the cross country team and also to replace stop watches and pace setters.
The race is only open to students 11 and up but anyone younger will be able to participate in a shorter fun run around the field. All students are $10, adults are $15, and any students from Goffstown High School will have the opportunity to win winter carnival points for participating. The cross country team is hoping to make this an annual event. More information about this can be found on the Goffstown High School home page.
