A junior here at GHS, the lead for the upcoming musical “Le Mis,” the nutcracker in the MODACO’s production of Nutcracker, and the participant in many more exciting activities and programs. This student is sixteen-year-old Carter Horne.
Carter Horne is in his junior year at Goffstown High School. Carter participates in many exciting activities in and outside of school, such as Theater, Tri-M, Music and Performing arts, MODACO, Select Vocal, Palace Theater, and Volleyball. He was the nutcracker in GHS’s performance of “The Nutcracker” and will be taking the lead of Jean Val Jean in the upcoming spring musical of “Le Mis” on February 16th-25th in 2024.
When asked about his lead role in “Le Mis” he claims to be “excited, yet, nervous due to the amount of acting and high notes I have to hit.” This was the role he wanted in this musical. His fellow friend Taylor Currier (sophomore at GHS) will also be in the spring musical and will be playing the role of Eponine. Based on working with Carter for the past four years in past musicals/shows Taylor says, “I enjoy working with Carter. He is nice, enjoys what he does, and he’s a good friend.”
Carter has been doing theater for the past seven years and dance for 2-3 years. Carter loves everything he does in and outside of school, but one of his favorite things to do is listening to music, specifically instrumental tracks, he says “I really like listening to all the different sounds in the music.”
Carter’s friend Taylor used three adjectives to describe him, “funny, kind, and hard-working.” They met at the palace theater in 7th grade and have gone to middle school and currently high school together. Over the years Taylor says she has seen character growth. “He is more open and out of his shell.” Although Carter participates in all these activities in the arts and sports now, he says “I want to keep them in my life but not as a profession.”
