When you walk into the GHS library, looking to find a book, figure out assignments, print a document, find reference information, etc, you will find Mrs. Beauchemin is always there to help. Mrs. Beauchemin is a recent addition to the library staff, but not the GHS staff. Before becoming our new librarian, she worked as an English teacher here for the last fifteen years. Prior to that she was a realtor, however, she knew that wasn’t the right fit for her.
At a very young age she loved literature. Soon enough, she discovered her passion for “…helping people and connecting them to whatever it is that they need. I love being part of a community and felt as though I could more directly impact a larger group of our own community at GHS in the library,” states Mrs. Beauchemin. When she decided that she wanted to become a librarian she took her first steps in that direction. On the way to becoming a librarian, she attended Plymouth State University and earned her Library Media Specialist Certification.
To connect and produce a well-rounded environment for our school, she read up on important ideologies, such as bringing plants into the space. “I feel as though it creates a more relaxing and inviting environment. I also want to provide more spaces for groups to meet and work together,” she says. Mrs. Beauchemin has so many new ideas to make the library a comfortable community for our students and staff. As a member of the New Hampshire School Media Library Association, she meets with other school district’s librarians across NH, and they all discuss and share new ideas to make the library a more positive and creativity free environment.
When asked what you like about the new librarian, student Sarah Hohenadel said, “I think she is very nice, patient, and funny. Anytime I have a question or problem she’s always happy to help…” She also mentions that the library is a great work environment that she can always focus in, “…I like the work environment in the library. I’m always able to focus when I’m there…”
“I love talking with people—in my job as a librarian, I am able to interface with all sorts of different people every day.” explains Mrs. Beauchemin. She is always here to help, and make you feel protected and inspired during your time at the GHS library.
