Swarming students fill up the halls of GHS as the semester comes to an end, and the dreaded midterm season begins. With the rush to make sure classes are passed, and tests go smoothly, the last thing anyone expects a student to remember is their AP dues.
The AP dues can be up to $90 per test, “we don’t expect students to be able to pay that” counselor Barese states, “they can come to their counselor, and we can help them with financial aid.” Something many students may be anxious about, or even embarrassed. However, there is “absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about” Counselor Barese assures.
With heavy course loads, AP classes tend to stress students out period. Let alone an AP test on top of that, but “it makes the class worth taking,” Barese says. AP classes are designed to prepare the students for the test, so upon the test most students can prove their work to be worth it.
AP tests, if passed can grant students enough credits to take an entire semester of college off. Many colleges require at least a 4 out of 5 on your test to qualify but are willing to accept 3 as well. If passed, the more credits you earn is money in your pocket, as it results in classes you don’t have to take.
So, with the tests coming up, the deadline to pay the dues are also coming up. If you cannot pay, there is financial aid available, just see your guidance counselor.
