Future Business Leaders of America is one of the largest clubs here at Goffstown High School, but why? What does it contribute to the members lives? As an officer, I can tell you FBLA has changed me as a student, leader, friend, and daughter. FBLA offers my peers and I so many opportunities to not only learn about business, but also leadership.
To start, FBLA has taught me the importance of networking. It helps you build connections that will benefit you years down the road. It can help you get jobs, partners, sponsorships and more. FBLA has also allowed me to learn about the work behind running a business, the teamwork, the individual work, and more. This has helped me gain insights into what business is really about, and it’s helped me further understand what to expect when I start to go into the world of business.
The point of FBLA is to learn about business, but it has also given me so many opportunities to better myself in many aspects of my life. FBLA has allowed me to understand the importance of being involved in my community, and the importance of giving back to the community as well. With FBLA, we focus a lot on doing tasks correlated with state officer projects, and a lot of that has been participating in community service. Through this service, I have paid a lot more attention to the community of Goffstown, and it’s helped he realize how much my community does for me. This gives my peers and I an incentive to not only become more involved to help spread my own influence, but an incentive to give back to our community to show our appreciation. We have participated in trash clean-ups, donation drives, fundraising for certain causes, and more.
By giving back to my community, I have learned so much about myself. I have learned the importance of gratitude and kindness in the world, and how even the smallest actions can help. This motivates me to work harder each day to give back and help as much as I possibly can. Being in such a large club and holding a significant leadership role has taught me what being a leader means.
Being a leader means so much more than just being the person in charge of something and telling people what to do. It means being the person to take charge in order to accomplish a task while including everyone, being the person people can come to for help, being the person people look up to, but most importantly, being the person to bring out the best in each person you interact with. Being a leader has allowed me to bring out the best qualities of my character. I have become more patient, understanding, and appreciative of every single member. The best thing about FBLA is that it brings out those leadership qualities in everyone, not just the officers. It offers people the chance to step up and take initiative no matter their role, and I promise that every action our members have taken to better our club have been seen and appreciated.
In the end, FBLA not only teaches you about business, but about life. It’s a club where you can gather an immense amount of knowledge to help you get 10% better each day.
