Whether you like it or not, your siblings are with you for a lifetime. You and your sibling’s bond is important, and many take it for granted. They say having an older sister is like having a built-in best friend. For Haley and me, it hasn’t always been that way. As little kids, we would fight a lot. Normally, we fought about unimportant things like who got what toy or who got to choose the movie we watched. However, growing up together made me realize how much we need each other. My sister and I are opposites, which made it hard to bond over things. We would either play together but later argue, or not play at all. As I grew older, that changed. I started to develop a deeper understanding of how lucky I am to have a sibling. The number of laughs and memories definitely make up for the years of not getting along. As a kid, you and your sibling spend about 6,000 breakfasts together. It will take another 200 years to make up for those 6,000 breakfasts with your sibling. Having an older sister specifically is a love like no other. They will barge in your room asking for a shirt but leave with two. Or, whenever they’re bored, you’ll end up at Target in the Starbucks line about to order. One day your older sibling is braiding your hair, and then suddenly, you are doing theirs. My older sister is crazy, caring, funny, and loud. As we both get older, I will miss the years we spent together. Happy 18th birthday Haley!!
