When the sun goes down and the moon comes up, little boys and girls dressed as pirates and princesses go from door to door saying “trick-or-treat!”. The night of Halloween, a childhood favorite, is a night a kid never forgets. When the topic of trick-or-treat arises, many question, “what age should kids stop trick-or-treating?”. With Halloween being one of the top 10 most popular holidays in the United States, October 31st is the day for all ages to get out and enjoy some candy. A recent poll with results from “…more than 800 people across the country…” (ABC News), states that 13 ½ is the age to stop going door to door for candy. Others say there should be no limit on a trick-or-treater’s age.
Halloween is a holiday to dress up and portray a new identity. Trisha Caron, a loving mother of two says kids should stop trick-or-treating “‘whenever they want (and) if they’re 18 and enjoying it, why not?’” Every year, people of all ages dress up and walk down the streets of their hometown. This holiday only lasts 2 to 4 hours, depending on your town, but results in months’ worth of candy! So, no matter your age, enjoy it! Happy Halloween!
