Peer Outreach at Goffstown High School is a club that serves the student community. Peer Outreach was invited to attend this year’s annual Youth to Youth event held in Brentwood, NH. At the event, students participate in discussions regarding the prevention of drug abuse.
The students that were chosen to attend went to talk about drug abuse and how to stop it. They also talked about helping their peers out to stop drug use. They had two special speakers then the students broke off into groups to talk about and learn about their interests more. They had a while to meet with their chosen groups before returning all together again.
Mrs. Salter, a GHS school nurse who works with Peer Outreach went for her second time. She said, “It went very well.” She felt happy and thought it was successful. She also mentioned that “any students who want to help change and make a difference should join.”
According to John Webb, a Peer Outreach advisor, the event was put on by “Dover Youth To Youth.” The group selected was chosen because they wanted to make a difference and help out. The field trip occurred on November 15th, 2024.
Mr. Webb, who’s also the Student Assistance counselor said, “he would go again.” He enjoyed the event, also stating, “It went well. The feedback from the students was good.”
