In the Hieber Auditorium on November 7th the cast of Radium Girls performed for physical science classes and the Junior Class. The cast was a total of 19 people. The show was put on for the classes for multiple different reasons. Physical science classes went because in class they were learning about the periodic table and the play is based on the effects Radium.
The students who were in the school show also performed a show that same night and a show the following night. In total, they performed one show for some of the school and two shows for people outside of the school. Normally, the drama club will only perform a small part of the show during their dress rehearsal during the school day, but this year, they performed the whole show for these classes.
Mia Levine-sirous played Harriet in the show and her favorite part about performing for the classes was, “To get everyone invested in theater, and show them what the theater department and wonderful people who were in the cast and working tech can do”. When asked if the cast was similar to a whole big family, Mia’s response was that she hasn’t been in too many GHS productions, but everyone was very supportive and kind. There was also zero negativity.
Ava Hale, a freshman, proclaims her favorite character to be Grace, a role played by Taylor Currier and her favorite scene was the intro scene. And a way she thinks that it was educational is that “we found out radium is poisonous and is toxic causing the girls to die”. Another thing is that she thinks the show flowed well. Also, she liked the show because it was very comedic but also very heartfelt. The emotions she felt from it were sadness but there were also some laughs. Ava Hale says, “The actors were quite phenomenal”.
