Hearing the horns and seeing the pure talent of people inspired Spencer Galloway to decide to join the UNH Jazz band. Being in a band is quite out of character for him, though he met some amazing people on the way. Galloway’s time in the Jazz band was something that he never regrets doing.
Throughout all the auditions and the expectations he had to meet. Galloway acheived what he wanted, “ Being able to play the trumpet which was such an accomplishment” Galloway stated. One of the most exciting aspects of being in the band, the famous Clark Terry. Mr. Terry ran the brass sectional for the UNH Jazz band. Through the training for the sectional Galloway had two three hour sessions with Terry every week.
Galloway doesn’t play the trumpet anymore, and he is a teacher at Goffstown High School. He is a biology teacher and teaches open and AP classes throughout the school year. Outside of teaching Galloway focuses on his family and playing golf, which he tries to do at least once a month. If he isn’t golfing or being with family he is most likely trying to help his students, in and out of the classroom. His Vlacs students do appreciate that he stays awake till ten o’clock for them to get assistance.
Spencer Galloway had some pretty amazing experiences when he joined the UNH jazz band, even though he didn’t pursue that career he is a dedicated teacher. Also a serious family man and a great golfer. He is so appreciative of the opportunities he has been given and hopes for more amazing things to come. “Joining the band was one of the best decisions I have ever made” Spencer Stated.
