Joseph Femino’s journey is one of resilience, determination, success, and unbridled positivity, highlighted by his ability to rise above adversity and create a stable and fulfilling life for himself and his family. Going from worrying if he’d have enough food for dinner to working on a data warehouse, Joseph has always pushed through any hardship in his way with a shining smile on his face.
Born in 1981 and raised with his four sisters, two younger and two older, Joseph’s early life was defined by a modest upbringing. Originally from Salem, Massachusetts, his family relied on the steady but exhausting work of their father, who worked long night shifts to provide for them, while their mother hardly being around meant that the children often had to fend for themselves. Eventually, Joseph and his family moved to New Hampshire, first to Weare, then to Goffstown. There, they found a safer neighborhood, better income and a safer environment in a house that Joseph himself loved the location of, since it allowed him easy access to the center of town and all the various shops and sights it had to offer.
Perhaps this more social location was what caused Joseph to be so friendly. When he first met his now wife, Kellie, he thought she was cute, and offered her a Cadbury egg. She politely declined, but he wasn’t deterred. They seemed to keep running into each other over and over, almost like fate was repeatedly pushing them together, and each time he would smile and say “hi” to her, but never actually asked her out. Until finally, when Kellie ran into Joseph working, she asked, “Do you want to get dinner sometime?”. He said yes, they exchanged numbers, and that was the beginning of a lifetime relationship. Joseph was also voted “Best Personality” and “Most Friendly” in his senior year of high school, showing that everyone saw him as an upbeat and friendly guy.
The new house was more secure than the last, but there was still a lack of resources at times, as Joseph’s wife, Kellie Femino, later described, “It was safe, but more often than not there wasn’t enough food or supplies.” Kellie spoke fondly about a time where she and Joseph were about to go on a date, but they saw that Joseph’s two younger sisters didn’t have food for dinner prepared, and were too young to be able to cook on their own. So, they instead cooked for them and ate at Joseph’s house. Both Joseph and Kellie look back on this memory, not as a missed date, but as a fond memory, one of bonding and spending time where it really counts.
Joseph’s early high school years, however, were not without their struggles. Like many teenagers, he initially slacked off in his studies, distracted by the changes that come with your teen years. But in his senior year, he realized something: “If I want to get a degree and a good job, I’ve got to pick up the slack.” With renewed purpose, Joseph buckled down, setting his sights on college. This determination carried over into his studies at Assumption University, where he pursued a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Financing his education through a combination of loans and a partial scholarship, Joseph worked tirelessly to achieve his goals, never once faltering in his positivity and determination.
The fruits of his labor became evident as he successfully earned his degree, opening the door to a multitude of career opportunities. He secured a job at Fidelity Investments, first working as a pension calculator specialist, before being promoted to data conversion analyst. Then, after working for Fidelity for six years, he was hired by Comcast, working with them until 2022, during which time he received three promotions from his outstanding performance, eventually landing him a job as a data team manager. Towards the end of his career with the company, he felt he was being undervalued, so he sought out a company that would value him better. He found it at Consillio, a data warehousing and contract analyzing company, who offered him a job with better pay, and the ability to work from home, allowing him to be with his children more than he would be if he was with Comcast. In each and every one of his jobs he was always viewed positively, never receiving a complaint or having an HR problem, and his promotions can be attributed to that and his hard work.
Today, Joseph holds a secure job at Consillio, providing a stable income that supports his family. Joseph’s upbringing never held him back or dragged him down. He is like a ray of sunshine, piercing through a gloomy storm cloud, just like his positivity and get goer attitude. He is an inspiration to everyone around him, and he will surely continue to push through any obstacles that stand in his way.
