Noah Kahan exploded as an artist in 2022 for his album “Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever” and his fame continues to grow. I first heard of his music in summer of 2023 and personally fell in love. This album contains 21 songs, and each song not only is pleasant to the ears, but they also have a deeper meaning. This album having a large number of songs does make it a little long coming at a total of one hour and 24 minutes.
Some of his most popular songs include “Call Your Mom,” “Dial Drunk,” and “You’re Gonna Go Far.” My personal favorite song is “Growing Sideways.” This was the very first song I heard from Noah Kahan and I immediately listened to the whole album. This specific song is more on the sad end of the spectrum. He sings of the emotional burden he faces everyday and how he’d rather not feel then be in pain.
Added to the album is the song “The View Between Villages Extended Version” and it offers an additional two minutes. In this two minutes Kahan adds a new verse to the song. This song reflects on his tough life but that he’s leaving it behind now. Kahan sings about him finding a new town that has a community that is there to help.
His song “All My Love” offers a bit more of an upbeat tone compared to the rest of the album. This contrast allows for the reader to have more of a happy feeling while listening. This song is about meeting up with an old friend and reminiscing about what they used to have together. Though this song still has a sad undertone, the listeners are able to feel the happiness shared in the song.
The music he creates tends to be emotional and a reflection on his personal life and struggles. As Kahan’s fame grows he continues to reach more people and help others. I believe that his music has been a great help to others, and he has shown to the world that it is okay to feel sad. The album “Stick Season” is a very moving album and if someone gets the chance they should try and listen to the album.
