On Tuesday, the 14th of January, the assistant principal of Manchester School of Technology, also known as MST, came to Goffstown High School to give all sophomores and any freshman interested in cosmetology more information on the school and its classes. After explaining how MST works, students were shown a video made by MST’s students providing their opinion on classes and why they liked them.
A typical day at MST begins in the atrium where students gather before heading off to the respective wing for classes. MST offers 20 different programs which meet every single school day for a 100-minute class. Students may have the ability to earn college credits or certifications in the field of study. Most programs have internships or business connections in Manchester.
Many of the programs offer hands on experience. The Automotive program has two full bays for students to work in, as well as real working cars and engines that work too. In the Aviation program, students work on manufacturing planes and MST actually built a flying plane that works, and they have connections to the aviation museum. Sometimes, retired pilots go to the school to help the class.
The Business and Marketing offers a version of shark tank. In carpentry, students frame, sheetrock, learn siding, roofing and even building a house with plumbing and electricity from the ground up.
This is a small sampling of the many opportunities available to students at MST. For more information, visit the Manchester School of Technology website.
On January 28th, 2025, there will be an optional field trip to MST to visit the school. There is also an open house on February 4th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. where students can explore the school and learn more about it. The deadline for the class registration is February 14th.
At the end of the meeting students were more informed of the MST opportunities available. Freshman Avery Litwinovich mentioned how she “enjoyed the meeting. It was helpful.”
