It started as just a video in a silent classroom, but little did Taylor Currier know, it would change her life. What was supposed to be a normal day at school for Taylor, bells ringing, people in the hallway, classes buzzing throughout the school, actually turned into a small-town girls break to fame. The hum of the air, the light sound of pages flipping, and the quiet scratching of pencils to paper, Taylor pressed record. She began to apply fake nails in a silent prep, whispering her words to create an ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response), essence, and she clicked the post. The video blew up.
An overwhelming feeling took her over as she watched five thousand followers jump to twenty thousand followers in just a night, and those numbers didn’t stop there. Before she knew it, the overwhelming feeling settled and turned into appreciation. Taylor says, “I feel appreciated knowing people liked the content I was making.” Taylor’s following kept growing and she kept posting. Her views hit the millions. She navigated through different categories of posts such as mental health, relationship advice, and fun related videos. Taylor began to release videos more often which required time out of her day as she recorded, edited, and polished the videos before posting.
Blowing up on TikTok wasn’t the first time Taylor had all eyes on her. From six years old on the stage dressed as Belle in the YMCA rendition of “Beauty and the Beast,” to her junior year show, as Christine Daae from the Phantom of the Opera, Taylor creates magic on stage. The spark to Taylor’s overall love of theater was presented by her grandmother who introduced her to it at a young age. Her grandmother would bring her to performances at the Palace Theatre and Taylor fell in love. These palace theater experiences pushed Taylor to be signed up for shows of her own where she landed the role as the main character Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” in her first ever performance. Now Taylor participates in shows at the Palace Theater, Goffstown High School, and incorporates her acting skills into her videos.
What makes Taylor so special is the talent and the fame alongside keeping up with who she really is. Taylor’s friend, Kaelyn Lavery describes her as “compassionate” and “inclusive.” Taylor creates a safe platform for her followers and friends online and in real life. Taylor is known to have good energy and a calm presence. She keeps her messages open on social media in case people need to talk or need advice. During show time, this energy is especially important, not only does she look effortless creating magic for everyone while she performs, but she helps the ones around her feel ready as well. She does not let her nerves show and she helps her costars to grow by keeping that calm presence.
Despite Taylor’s sudden rise to fame, she keeps true to herself and ultimately wants to connect people and entertain, whether it’s through a device or on stage. As time progresses Taylor will continue with TikTok, building her platform and creating safe spaces for people to be themselves and thrive off of her energy. Taylor states “After blowing up, I started to post videos about mental health, healthy relationships, and tips for people new to theater. I want my account to be a place for people to come not just for entertainment, but also for when they need help. My messages are always open, and when people message me for help or advice, I do my best to respond.” Taylor is a real one of a kind.
