The Goffstown Girls Basketball team is nine games into the regular season and ready for more. The team has had ups and downs throughout the season and faced challenges throughout. The girls shared their thoughts on the beginning of the season, and their views for the upcoming games.
Senior guard, Madi Giordano says, “my thought was that this season was going to be critical in building up the program as we have a younger team and had a big rebuilding season last year. Pre season prepared us by building up our body’s strength and stamina.” The girls started the season with a tough loss to Nashua South but turned it around beating Alvirne 54-41. They continue beating teams such as Timberlane and Madi says, “we played the best against Alvirne.”
Although there have been lots of events in the past couple weeks, varsity is not finished. The girls need to finish another eleven games to round out this season. Reece Still, a junior on the team says, “we adjusted to the team by learning to trust each other and now we all have each other’s backs. We need to bring that mentality into the remainder of the season to finish strong.” and “I am excited to play some hard teams and compete at a high level.”
On Monday, January 20 the girls will take on Londonderry. They will travel to Londonderry and watch JV before the varsity game at 4:15. The Londonderry team has multiple college commits and Madi says, “My best advice to younger girls is to show up and do your best, because if you are then nobody can say you don’t want it.”
