Pat’s Peak Ski Area recently became the first ski mountain in New England to become 100% open, as announced by the New England Ski Industry. Pat’s was able to accomplish this with their successful efforts to increase their own machine snow production, combined with the recent snow storm. This left the mountain in good condition, with enough snow to be able to fully open all of their trails to snowboarders and skiers alike who love to ski at Pat’s Peak.
Pat’s Peak announced that all twenty-eight of their trails were officially 100% open on January 7th, right after a big snowstorm hit and the mountain was able to get a few fresh inches of powder. Sophomore at Goffstown High School and employee at Pat’s Peak, Paige Winters, describes how, “Everyone at Pat’s has been praying to get dumped with snow for a while. The mountain crew has been blowing a ton of snow to prepare for the snowstorm.”
The crew got their wish when the storm hit, and because a layer of snow was blown before the storm came, there weren’t any patches or poorly covered areas on the trails. This allowed for all twenty-eight trails to be in perfect condition for the people who came in to ski and snowboard over the recent long weekend.
Winters explains that, “Opening the whole mountain has definitely led to more people coming to Pat’s. More people are bound to come when there is all this fresh snow.” Many of the people who enjoy going to Pat’s Peak are students at GHS. One freshman at GHS and frequent skier at Pat’s Peak, Jenna Shannon says that she loves skiing at Pat’s. Shannon describes that “Pat’s is a great place to ski with friends. The trail conditions are great and their cookies are amazing!”
Now that all of their trails are open and conditions are good, Pat’s is expecting more skiers and snowboarders to come to the mountain to enjoy the fresh snow. Winters explains the appeal of Pat’s Peak to locals, saying, “I think people love to ski at Pat’s Peak because it’s very family oriented and family friendly. It’s a great place to be able to meet up with your friends, or to spend a day with your family where you can all be doing a fun activity together. Overall, it’s a great mountain and I think it has a lot to offer.”
